After scoring a super hit with Petta last year, Superstar Rajinikanth came up with Darbar this year, as a Pongal festive treat. Directed by AR Murugadoss, this film had hit the screens on the 9th of this month. As there were no other major Pongal releases in Tamil, Darbar is having a dream run at the box office.
It has become the highest-grossing film across many areas till now. The film has broken another record today. Darbar has crossed the lifetime collections of Bigil in the Maharaja Multiplex properties across Tamil Nadu. The theatre management has shared this news on twitter and said that they are now with happy faces all around. They also termed Darbar as the real blockbuster. This action entertainer is repeating similar records in various regions across Tamil Nadu and overseas as well.
Darbar is the story of a powerful police officer who is on the hunt for a famous drug lord. Director Murugadoss managed to bring the vintage Rajinikanth, which has satisfied all the fans. The film featured Nivetha Thomas, Nayanthara, Suneil Shetty and Prateik Babbar in the other important roles. Subaskaran has produced the film under Lyca Productions and Anirudh Ravichander has composed the music for it.
