Navarasa, as we all know it, is jointly produced by Mani Ratnam and Jayendra Panchapakesan. Apart from producing the nine-film anthology, Mani Ratnam has also written the story and screenplay for two films in the anthology. Ahead of the release of Navarasa, Mani Ratnam and Jayendra Panchapakesan along with the entire team of Navrasa spoke about being part of the project in a global fan meet. While addressing the gathering, Mani Ratnam was asked if he would prefer producing films over the direction. His answer totally surprised everyone as he said that he would any day pick production over the direction.
Speaking at the event, Mani Ratnam said, "It was a pleasure doing the film. Even though we had nine films, I was relaxed as I knew it was in capable hands. We were just there to coordinate. Any day, I'll pick this over directing a film." On his part, director-producer Jayendra said, "The directors, actors, and technicians worked through the intense second wave of Covid-19 and everyone put their heart and soul into this project. We wanted to make lots of films to support more people and wanted more people in the industry to participate in it. In fact, Mani even suggested that we should find a 10th rasa if that means bringing more people on board.”
