Director KV Anand dies at 54. Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan pays tribute

Cinematographer and director KV Anand suffered a massive cardiac arrest in the early morning of April 30. At midnight, he developed chest pain and breathlessness and drove himself to a private hospital in Chennai to get it checked. At around 3 am, he suffered a heart attack and breathed his last. KV Anand was tested positive for the novel coronavirus and hence his mortal remains were not handed over to his family. He was cremated by the corporation officials while his wife and daughters paid homage for a few minutes.

Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan took to Twitter to pay their tributes with a social media post. Rajinikanth wrote, "The demise of the respected KV Anand is shocking and painful. My deepest condolences to his family who lost him. May his soul attain peace." Kamal Haasan wrote, "KV Anand, who started his career as a photographer in magazines, has established himself as an outstanding cinematographer and director due to his unwavering dedication. His demise is a huge loss to cinema. My heartfelt condolences." He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
