2019 Malayalam film Lucifer is the highest-grossing film ever in the Malayalam film industry. Starring Mohanlal in the lead role, this film broke many records and became an industry hit of Mollybbod. Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, Lucifer featured Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas and Vivek Oberoi in the other important roles.
A few months back, Prithviraj announced that there will be a sequel for this film as well. He also announced the title of it as Empuraan. Till now, we don't have any updates on Empuraan. Recently, Mohanlal received the Best Actor Award at Vanitha Awards. The actor spoke about Empuraan at this event.
Mohanlal said that the pre-production works of Empuraan will begin by the end of this year. The shooting will go on floors in early 2021 and Mohanlal added that the film will release in the same year itself. He also praised Prithviraj Sukumar by saying that the actor turned director will become one of the finest filmmakers of India.
Prithviraj said that writer Murali Gopi already came up with a storyline for Empuraan. He is now waiting for the bounded script. He added that he will finish the film in six months after getting the bound script in hand.
