Making movies based on real-life people and incidents has become a new trend in Indian cinema. Now, a movie on the recent Kozhikode plane crash got announced. It has been only two weeks since the incident took place. Now, a movie is being made on it and got titled, "Calicut Express." Maya will direct the film.
The concept poster of the film got released along with the announcement. Take Off Cinemas will bankroll this project. Majeed Maranchery is writing the screenplay of this movie. We hear that the shooting will begin in January 2021. It will hit the screens in August next year. Thus, the movie will release exactly after a year of the incident. The plane crash happened on the 7th of August. It killed 18 people including four children and two pilots. The incident took place when an Air India Express flight coming from Dubai skidded off from the runway of the Kozhikode Airport. The plane fell into the nearby valley and the plane broke into two halves. The local people played a major role in the rescue operations. They also donated blood to some of the victims. Many leaders and celebrities have applauded the efforts of the local people. All of them are under home quarantine as some of the victims have tested positive for the coronavirus.
