Of late, Mahesh Baby has been stuck in income tax and GST fraud, which is a black mark to his otherwise clean image. Recently, his multiplex AMB Cinemas was issued a show-cause notice for violating GST norms.
 
AMB Cinemas is co-owned by Mahesh Babu and Asian Cinemas. In recent inception, it has been brought to notice that they were charging ticket rats as per old GST rules. On January 1, the GST rates for tickets have been slashed.
 
It is now said that Asian Sunil and Co had to pay a whopping Rs 35.66 lakh, which were the extra ticket cost charged from the people. This amount has been transferred to the Consumer Welfare Fund.
 
For movie tickets costing over Rs 100, the GST has been slashed from 28% to 18 %. And for tickets costing less than Rs 100, the rates have been cut down to 12% from 18%.
