The Tamil Nadu government allowed theatres to reopen in the state with 50 percent occupancy. While only a handful of theatres have reopened, other theatres will open the shutters this week. After the announcement was made, many small-budget films have been queuing up for release in theatres. One of the films that are all set to release in theatres is former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh's acting debut flick titled Friendship. Along with Harbhajan Singh, Bigg Boss contestant LOsliya will play the female lead. Action King Arjun Sarja has been roped in to play a crucial role in the film. Friendship has been censored with a U/A certificate and will hit the screens in September. Earlier, there were rumors doing the rounds that the film's rights have been sold to an OTT platform.

Friendship is directed by the duo, John Paul Raj and Sham Suriya, who helped Chennaiyil Oru Naal 2. An official announcement regarding the film's release date will be out soon. The teaser of Friendship showed Harbhajan Singh and Sathish playing the roles of two college students, who are best friends. The film is jointly produced by Seantoaa Films and Cinemas Studio. The technical crew of Friendship includes composer DM Udhayakumar, cinematographer Santha Kumar and editor Deepak S Dwarakanath.
