Lucifer is the highest-grossing film in the Malayalam industry to date. This 2019 movie has collected more than Rs. 150 crores at the box office and turned out to be a massive blockbuster. Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, this film features Mohanlal, Prithviraj, Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier and Vivek Oberoi in the main roles. After its success, Prithviraj has announced that he will be making a sequel for it called Empuraan.
Recently, Mohanlal won the Best Actor award at Vanitha Awards for his spectacular performance in Lucifer. After that event, Mohanlal opened up on the sequel Empuraan. He confirmed that the pre-production works of Empuraan will start by the end of this year. The film will go on floors in early 2021 and it will hit the screens in the same year.
Mohanlal also added that every film needs magic to become successful at the box-office. According to him, writer Murali Gopi, producer Anthony Perumbavoor and Prithviraj created that magic for Lucifer. Empuraan will feature the back story and the future of the lead character Stephen Nedumpillay, played by Mohanlal.
Director Prithviraj said that already Murali Gopi came up with the storyline of the film. He added that the film will go on floors six months after he gets the bound script in his hands.
