Earlier, Aashiq Abu and Prithviraj had withdrawn from the upcoming film ‘Vaariyamkunnan’. Reportedly, the two withdrew due to problems with the producers. Reportedly, Prithviraj and Aashiq Abu had left the film seven months ago.
The Sangh Parivar had warned to abandon the film and if released, they would protest. Following the announcement of the film, there was a massive cyber attack on Prithviraj. BJP-RSS leaders had asked Prithviraj to withdraw from the film through social media.
Initially, Anwar Rashid was set to direct 'Vaariyamkunnan' with Vikram in the lead role. The project was later taken over by Aashiq Abu. Anwar Rashid told co-writer Rameez that he had to abandon the project because he wanted more time.
