IFFI 2019 throws a special focus on Konkani films to help the budding filmmakers in Goa.

IFFI focuses on the Konkani Cinema

Since 2004, Goa is hosting the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) every year. Before that, Tiruvananthapuram used to be the host of the festival. Goa is the home of Konkani Cinema. This year marks the 50th edition of IFFI and thus, its organizers have decided to screen some of the best Goan films.

These films fall under the category, 'The Goan Story: A Konkani Film Package.' A total of seven films of Konkani film industry will get screened under this section. Even though it is a relatively small industry, the Konkani film industry has delivered a few brilliant films in the past few years.
The films which are getting screened under this section are Amori, Digant, Dulu, Juze, K Sera Sera, Paltadcho Munis and A Rainy Day. These films are some of the best works of the Konkani film industry and most of them also have Goa as the backdrop. Film enthusiasts, who are willing to explore Konkani Cinema, can give these films a shot.
Over 200 films made across 76 countries are getting screened in this year's festival. All these films come into 23 different categories. The festival kickstarts on the 20th of November and ends on the 28th of November.
