"Most people don't understand what I'm saying. Filmmakers are betting on stars' children. When you think of Amitabh Bachchan's son or Dharmendra's son, you think maybe the history of nepotism will repeat itself. So they're making a genetic bet, and that's how I Think. Instead of just betting on ability, they think his son has that ability. Sometimes it comes through genes, sometimes it doesn't." Saif Ali Khan said then.
Meanwhile, in a letter written after their remarks at the 2017 awards, Saif claimed that nepotism would not happen in the 'democratic' film industry. Apart from the fact that he got the opportunity because of his mother, Saif said it was a genetic bet.
