2020 has opened with a bang with the super successes of Sankranthi releases Sarileru Neekevvaru and Ala...Vaikunthapurramuloo. To continue this good form, another biggie is gearing up for its release. It is Jaanu, starring Sharwanand and Samantha as the leads. This romantic drama is all set to release this Friday.
Jaanu is the official remake of the 2018 Tamil film 96, which had Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha as the leads. It showcases the story of two childhood sweethearts, who meet each other at the school reunion after 20 years. The emotional storyline and soulful music have played major roles in the success of 96. The makers of the Telugu version are also banking on the same elements to score a hit.
The film got screened for the censor board the other day. The board has awarded it a clean U certificate without any cuts. The runtime got locked at 150 minutes (2 hours 30 minutes). Thus, all the formalities have finished and the movie is entirely decked up for the release.
C. Prem Kumar, who has directed the original, also helmed Jaanu. 96's music composer Govind Vasantha has scored the music for this film as well. Ace producer Dil Raju has bankrolled this project.
