James Vasanth Lashes Out At Super Singer Junior After Contestant Uses Cuss Word

Music composer and television host James Vasanth was taken aback when a Super Singer Junior 8 contestant sang the Karuthavellam Galeejam's song. In the song, the use of the word thakkali refers to a cuss word in Tamil. When James Vasanth saw a contestant saying that song, he was taken aback. He wrote, "If you have to use cuss words while singing, then caution the audience."

He took to Facebook and wrote, "Accidentally I watched, Super Singer Junior Finals live. An 8-year-old girl was singing, 'Karuthavanlam Galeejam' (movie: Velaikaran). During the interludes, like in the original version, she also stressed the word 'Thakkali" (literally meaning "tomato"). I was bamboozled by seeing an innocent young kid using such words without knowing the meaning. We all know that the word sounds similar to a cuss word. The makers of the movie used that equivalent word in order to get away with the censor board and the audience. But the parents, trainers, and the makers teaching the child to stress the word in a similar way is unacceptable. If you have to live a life by singing cuss words, then choose the right platform for it. The audience should be warned that the show has strong language. Then it becomes the responsibility of the audience. Do not stigmatize society by injecting poison into the mass media that children listen to."
