Actor Jayam Ravi, who portrays the crucial character of Arun Mozhi Varman (also known as Ponniyin Selvan) in director Mani Ratnam's recently released magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan 1, has praised the film's background score by composer A.R. Rahman.
Jayam Ravi expressed his joy at becoming a part of the movie on Instagram, writing: "The pride of Indian cinema has done it again and how! A Mani Ratnam celluloid extravaganza that transports us to an era we have been in awe of for centuries together. Lived, laughed and loved experiencing the Chola empire for three hours as an audience! The first instalment of the excellent story "Ponniyin Selvan," which was released on Friday, centres on the early years of prince Arun Mozhi Varman, afterwards known as the renowned Raja Raja Chozhan.
The movie, which director Mani Ratnam has referred to as his dream project, stars a wide range of well-known actors, including Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Jayaram, Parthiban, Lal, Vikram Prabhu, Jayaram, Prabhu, and Prakash Raj. Based on the renowned writer Kalki's Tamil classic Ponniyin Selvan, the movie is one of the most expensive productions ever attempted in the nation.
