The trend of South Indian film remakes in Hindi is not a new phenomenon in Bollywood. But of late, it has declined as many new-age Bollywood filmmakers started coming up with original content and there was no need for dong remakes. But it looks like the remake trend has boosted up yet again this year.
We already have Tiger Shroff's Baaghi 3 coming up, which is an official remake of Tamil film Vettai (Thadaka in Telugu). Akshay Kumar is remaking Kanchana as Laxmmi Bomb. After remaking Arjun Reddy as Kabir Singh, Shahid Kapoor is now remaking Jersey with the same title. Now, another star hero has joined this list.
B-Town's hunk actor John Abraham has signed the Hindi remake of Tamil blockbuster Vedhalam. Directed by Siva, Vedhalam featured Ajith, Shruti Haasan and Laxmi Menon in the lead roles. The film deals with sister sentiment and has high emotional and action elements.
Apparently, John liked the film and immediately decided to remake it in Hindi. The shoot will go on floors in a couple of months. The makers are planning to can most of the portions in real locations only. Bhushan Kumar of T-Series will be producing this film. The director and the other lead cast and crew will get confirmed soon.
