Jyothika is one of the popular actors in Kollywood film industry now. The actress took a bold decision to have her film Ponmagal Vandhal release in an OTT platform than having a theatrical release. Understanding the situations in the film industry and the impact of the Corona Crisis, Jyothika took this decision to save the producers. Suriya too extended his support to his wife's decision. But the decision opened a lot of criticism to both of them. The theatre associations also threatened the actor that they will boycott his films. In a recent media interaction, Jyothika opened up on the entire issue.
"Because of the pandemic, we opted for a OTT release for Ponmagal Vandhal. The big budgeted films will hit the big screens once the pandemic is over but we are not sure if we get a slot immediately to have our film released. We can not wait for a long time. So, we decided that OTT would be a better platform for releasing the films directly there. This only works for small budget films." said the actress.
The actress, however, confirmed that her future films will release in theatres as well. Jyothika says that the situation forced them to do that.
Ponmagal Vandhal releases on 29th May on Amazon Prime Video.
