Jyotika in her second innings has been doing films that have a meaning and that are bound to create an impact in society. In 2020, Her film Ponmagal Vandhal was released directly on Amazon Prime Video after skipping theatrical release. Ponmagal Vandhal was a well-intentioned film that highlighted how rape cases are dealt with in courts. The film also encourages rape survivors to speak up and children not to hide anything from their parents. After a year since the film's release, Ponmagal Vandhal has a lasting impact on a nine-year-old girl hailing from Royapuram in Chennai.
She was watching Ponmagal Vandhal and after seeing a scene about Jyotika's daughter in the film talking about sexual abuse, she approached her mom and outed a 48-year-old family relative who sexually abused her. The rape victim's survivor then registered a case against the harasser. Within one year, the Madras High Court has passed a judgment in the case. The judge who heard the case has sentenced the predator to five years imprisonment. Jyotika and director JJ Fredrick were overwhelmed to know that the film has pushed a little girl to open up to her mom about her trauma. Jyotika took to Instagram to share the information on Instagram.
