Kamal Haasan's iconic film Virumaandi completed 17 years of release recently. The film which spoke about capital punishment for prisoners and about jallikattu still remains one of the favoruite Kamal films in everyoe's life. As the film celebrated a milestone, Kamal Haasan's production house arranged an interaction with the cast of Virumaandi. A sneak peek of the interaction was shared on social media on the official YouTube channel of Raaj Kamal Films. In the video, he can be seen interacting with Napolean, Nasser, Pasupathy and others.
Kamal reminisced about Virumaandi on the Sunday episode of Bigg Boss Tamil Season 4.He said, "The name I kept for the film is Sandiyar, but I had to change it to Virumaandi. It's been 17 years. Let me say it one time - Sandiyar. The film, which had jallikattu as one of the themes, had Ramu and Ravi, two Kangeyam bulls as part of the film. In the film, I worked with real-life jallikattu players. Virumaandi is extremely close to my heart and I enjoyed it as a director and a screenplay writer. Despite many troubles, I felt happy working on the film. Looking back, I felt the issues that cropped up were so silly. It made me think about how people can trouble an artist like this."
