Kantara Enters The Best Picture And Best Actor Categories For The Oscars

The Kannada movie Kantara's creators and supporters now have another, very good reason to celebrate after earning praise and enormous box office success. The Rishab Shetty film has qualified for the Oscars in the Best Picture and Best Actor categories (Shetty). As a result, the movie is now up for an Oscar member vote that will include it in the primary nominees.

Hombale Films, the movie's producers, tweeted the information. They wrote,

In December 2022, the producers forwarded Kantara to be considered for an Oscar nomination. Vijay Kiragandur of Hombale Films sadi, “We have filed our application for Oscars 2023 for Kantara and have our fingers crossed. Kantara is such a deep narrative that we think it may attract a global audience as well.” He also disclosed that they are thinking about adding a sequel to the property. For those who are unaware, Kantara portrays a fight between humans and nature. In the movie, Shiva (Shetty), a villager, sides with his community and the natural world. The Varaha Avatar, Lord Vishnu's third avatar, is also shown in the movie. Shetty not only acts as the lead but also wrote and directed the movie.
