The film is produced by Applause Entertainment and Nandita Das Initiatives. It also stars Shahana Goswami as a homemaker who decides to support her husband's (Kapil's) income by working for the first time.

Zwigato had its world premiere in September 2022 at the 47th Toronto International Film Festival. An Asian premiere at the 27th Busan International Film Festival followed it. The film was also shown at the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK).
