Karan Johar clarifies rumours about Takht

Rumors about Karan Johar 's upcoming film Takht have kept Bollywood buzzing. Rumors of Fox Star Studios backing out of this film were making rounds last week. It was then said that Bhushan Kumar's T-Series will now produce the film. It was also said that Johar had approached the South Indian Production company LYCA Productions.

However, Johar has taken to Twitter to deny such news. He said, “News articles and speculations making the rounds about the acquisition of #TAKHT are baseless and untrue! I would request media houses to focus on more relevant and critical issues that plague our country and refrain from incorrect reportage!”

Takht was to start filming in March 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the schedule is now halted indefinitely.

Johar's Takht will allegedly follow the tale of the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb and his relationship with his brother Dara Shikoh.

In a recent interview, Johar said, "This is the film that'll get me nervous. I've not been nervous about the other experiences because they've always been about people I know. But I don't know these people. To get into the heads of Shah Jahan, Dara Shikoh and Aurangzeb, I had to do a lot of reading, researching, soul searching to understand their minds about their ambitions, failings, highs, and lows in the 16th century. It's not something I can comprehend easily. If you read anything about Dara Shikoh and Aurangzeb... They were relevant to history and are relevant even today, their ethos is relevant even today. When you see the film you'll probably realize what I'm talking about."

Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Janhvi Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar and Anil Kapoor will star in the film. According to some reports, the film will hit the theaters on Christmas day 2021.
