RK studios has become an iconic part of the history of Bollywood films. RK Studios has seen many large scale films shooting there in its long history. The famous director/ producer Karan Johar took to his Twitter handle on Saturday to share his own memories from the iconic studio.
Ironically Karan shared that his fondest memory at the studio is not one he has as a director but as an actor. He wrote, " RK Studios is more than a mega institution of Indian cinema, it has also shaped many personal memories for me. My fondest memory wasn't as a director but as an actor! "
Karan Johar went on and wrote, "I was 15 and shooting for a TV serial called Indradhanush which was being filmed there and one of my first times on a set."
He continued adding and wrote, " I remember standing at the gate of RK Studios, excited to get on set and walk through the corridors where the great Raj Kapoor created some of the most memorable films. You can now experience the same wonder of driving through those iconic gates and to build, create and #LiveYourStory! "
Many old iconic Bollywood films like Aag (1948), Barsaat (1949), Awaara (1951), Shree 420 (1955), Jaagte Raho (1956), Anari (1959), Sangam (1964), Mera Naam Joker (1970), Bobby (1973), Satyam Shivam Sundaram (1978) have all shot at RK studios.
Now, the old decapitated studio is getting demolished. In place of it, Godrej Properties Ltd. is bringing up a fancy residential complex alongside a shopping mall. RK studios sat on a property over 2.2 acres (around 100,000 square feet)
Karan Johar himself is busy with the upcoming release of Bhoot: Part 1 The Haunted Ship. The film stars Vicky Kaushal and directed by Bhanu Pratap Singh.
