Karthi shares an update about Ponniyin Selvan shoot

Karthi was last seen in Sulthan, directed by Bakkiyaraj Kannan. The film, which released in theatres on April 2 received a positive response from the audience and critics alike. Recently, Karthi and Rashmika Mandanna interacted with fas on an Instagram live session. They spoke about the success of Sulthan and opened up about their upcoming projects. Karthi, in particular, revealed that he has completed 70 per cent of the shoot and is planning to wrap it up in a couple of months. Ponniyin Selvan is directed by Mani Ratnam and jointly produced by Mani's Madras Talkies and Lyc Productions.

Karthi said, "We have completed around 70% of the shoot. Our initial plan was to release for Sankranthi(Pongal) 2022 but due to the pandemic, we are not sure about the release date now. It was a sixty-year dream for Tamil filmmakers to adapt this epic to the big screen. Rahman's music is kickass. It was a fantastic experience working with a big star cast including Jayam Ravi, Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sarathkumar, Lal, and others." Ponniyin Selvan is based on the Tamil literary novel of the same name.
