Karthi's Kaithi selected for screening at the International Indian Film Festival Toronto
The Karthi starrer Kaithi was one of the most popular films of 2019; the film is one among the films selected to feature in the semi-virtual edition of the International Indian Film Festival Toronto this year
The International Indian Film Festival Toronto has gone virtual this year! Owing to the coronavirus outbreak, the International Indian Film Festival Toronto has opted to host a semi-virtual film festival this year. The popular Tamil action thriller Kaithi starring Karthi is one of the Indian films selected for screening at the International Indian Toronto Film Festival. Jersey, Super 30 and Trance are the other films that will feature at the IIFFT 2020. The film festival begins on August 9th and will go on till the 15th.
Kaithi's director Lokesh Kanagaraj took to his social media to share the news of its screening. The director who is now awaiting the release of the Vijay starrer Master shared a poster for the screen and wrote, "Glad to share this :) Big thanx to the entire team http://iifft.ca/kaithi.html." According to IIFFT's website, Kaithi will be screened at 6 pm on August 12th.
Kaithi follows the tale of a prisoner on parole, who is on a quest to meet his daughter for the first time. On his journey, he meets a police officer Bejoy, who enlists his help in the aftermath of a sticky situation. Kaithi was a massive hit at the box office. The film was critically acclaimed; Kaithi won several awards during the awards season.
Apart from Karthi, the film featured actors Narain, Arjun Das, George Maryan and Dheena. Sathya Saooryan was the film's cinematographer and Sam CS, the music director. S P Prakashbabu and SR Prabhu co-produced the film with Tiruppur Vivek under the banners Dream Warrior Pictures and Vivekananda Pictures.
As hinted at the end of the film, Kaithi will have a sequel as well. A Bollywood remake is also in the works.
