Music Maestro Ilaiyaraaja is a legendary music director who composed over 1000 films in his career. In this long journey, Ilaiyaraaja got conferred with many awards including Padma Vibhushan from the government of India. Now, another feather is going tp be the new jewel on his crown.
Now, Ilaiyaraaja has been selected to receive the Harivarasanam Award presented by the government of Kerala. The musical legend will receive a cash prize of one lakh rupees, citation, and plaque. He will receive the award at the ceremony which will happen in Sabarimala Sannidhanam next month.
Tourism Minister of Kerala, Kadakampally Surendran announced the news the other day. Kerala government introduced this award in 2012 and since then, many legendary personalities like KJ Yesudas, SP Balasubrahmanyam, MG Sree Kumar, Gangai Amaran, Chitra and Susheela, have received it.
The 76-year-old Ilaiyaraaja started his career in 1976 and since then, has composed various hit albums in Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada and other languages.
