Director Mani Rathma and his wife actress Suhasini went live on Instagram. While they were live streaming, Suhasini told Mani Ratnam, “ Your favorite director, Lijo Jose Pellissery, is watching this.” At this juncture, Mani Rathma spoke of how he admires Lijo Jose Pellissery's work. Suhasini also said that Mani Rathma has been constantly talking about Lijo's works.
During the live stream, Suhasini said, “… Mani has been saying so much about your films. I have seen only one film about you.” To which Mani Ratnam replied, “ Lijo, I’m a big fan of yours. You are probably one of the best directors today. Congrats. Keep it up,” said the maestro.
The couple mentioned their favorite films by Lijo. Suhasini mentioned Lijo’s Jallikattu and Ee Ma Yau. Mani Ratnam added Angamaly Diaries and Amen.
Suhasini has been going live on Instagram since the lockdown was imposed. Mani Ratnam joined his wife to talk about the completing 21 days under lockdown.
On the work front, Mani Ratnam's last film Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, starring Arvind Swami, Silambarasan, Arun Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi was a huge success. He is now looking forward to the release of his next film Ponniyin Selvan. The film is an adaptation of the epic novel of the same name by Kalki Krishnamurthy. The film has an ensemble cast of Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Jayaram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Aditi Rao Hydari, Lal, and Ashwin Kakumanu. The film is being produced by Mani Ratnam and Subaskaran under the Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions banners. An R Rahma is composing the film's score. Recently, it was rumored that Ponniyin Selvan will be a two-part film.
