Mahesh Babu’s recently released film Maharshi is doing good in the Domestic market despite mixed reviews. Directed by Vamsi Paidipally, the film also stars Pooja Hegde and Allari Naresh and Jagapathi Babu.
Trade reports suggest that the film is not performing up to the mark in the US. Mahesh Babu the self-proclaimed king of the overseas market has a good following in the US but coming to Maharshi the occupancy is not great from the premier shows itself. Premier numbers were shockingly low and the trend continued to be the same. Distributors have planned huge Premier shows across the USA considering the previous track record of Mahesh Babu. On Thursday and Friday film raked in $177k and $231K to take the total to $923K. If the film managed to hold strong during the weekend, the film’s box office collection might go up to $1.4 million. Maharshi needs to collect at least 2.5M in the USA to reach breakeven mark but looking at the trend it looks quite difficult.
Even though Maharshi has an interesting concept, it was ruined by the lazy screenplay and the lengthy narration. Once again it is proved that more than star power it always content which works in the overseas market. Maharshi should collect 100 crores share in its full run for breakeven.
