Noted Malayalam cinema actor KTS Padannayil died on Thursday morning. He was noted for his comedic performances in Malayalam films. The death was in a Kochi hospital owing to age-related illnesses. He was admitted to a hospital on July 19. According to reports, July 22, 6:40 am marked the 1990s star’s last breath.
KTS Padannayil began his carrier as a theatre artist. He first appeared in Rajasenan’s 1995 film ‘Aniyan Bava Chettan Bava.’ Padannayil is well known as a supporting actor in Malayalam films during the 90s. The films such as Sreekrishnapurathe Nakshatrathilakkam and Vrudhanmare Sookshikkuka hailed his talent as an actor. KTS Padannayil had appeared in over 60 films over his nearly two-decade-long cinema career. He appeared in a number of television comedy serials during this period.
KTS Padannayil’s first drama was his own directorial ‘Vivahadallal’. He played the central character in the play. Later he worked with many prominent Drama troupes such as Vaikom Malavika, Kollam Tuna, and Attingal Aishwarya.
Though he acted in many major Malayalam Films, KTS Padannayil’s main income was from a small store worth 300 rupees. He was not able to make a big income from the Film industry. Earlier he had said that he bought the shop so that he never has to beg for the money and chance in films.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Education Minister V Sivankutty expressed their condolences on Padannayil's death. Many celebrities, including Mohanlal, Mammootty, Dileep, Suresh Gopi, and others, paid their respects to the late actor.
