Veteran Malayalam and Tamil actor Unnikrishnan Namboodiri passed away on January 20. He was 98 years old. Recently, he was diagnosed with the novel coronavirus and even recovered from it. However, due to his ill health, he passed away on January 20. Unnikrishnan Namboodiri was known for his realistic performances in films such as Pammak K Sammandam, Kandukondein Kandukondein, and Chandramukhi to name a few. Apart from doing Tamil films occasionally, Unnikrishnan had acted in a number of Malayalam films and was known for his passion towards the artform.
A few weeks ago, Unnikrishnan Namboodiri was admitted to a hospital in Kerala and was diagnosed with pneumonia. Later, the doctors ran a Covid-19 test in which he tested positive for the virus. While he tested negative later, his body could not take the hit. , which resulted in his death. Several actors including Mohanlal and Kamal Haasan took to social media to share their grief. Kamal Haasan shared a photo of Unnikrishnan Namboodiri and wrote, "Unnikrishnan Namboodiri, who came to acting at the age of 73 and made Malayalees laugh for 18 years. As a young grandfather, he was a man of art. The man who was supposed to be a centurion in 2 more years has left us today. Heartfelt tributes."
