Malayalam star Mammootty who is riding high on the success of his recently released film Peranbu is returning to Tollywood with Yatra, a biopic on the life of politician YS Rajasekara Reddy.
Mammootty, in an interview to an English daily, said that Yatra is not a biopic on the politician’s life but a film on the incidents that happened during the historic walkathon.
The Peranbu star revealed that he did not try to mimic YSR. “I only played my character. But, you may see similarities between the two. When Mahi Raghav came with the entire script, I was confident that he could complete the film without any delays,” he shared.
Mammootty also takes pride in introducing over 70 directors in different languages. Yatra is all the more special because Mammootty dubbed for himself in Telugu.
Speaking about it, he said, “Telugu is very close to Malayalam and many words are similar. So I didn’t face any problem. The only thing I had to correct was the accent, otherwise, it was easy.”
Mammootty signed off saying that he is willing to do more Telugu films in the future provided he gets good scripts.
