Mani Ratnam starts shooting for his dream project - Ponniyin Selvan

Maverick director Mani Ratnam is currently busy in the works of his dream project, Ponniyin Selvan. Based on the legendary Tamil novel of the same name, this film is being made on a huge budget and a heavy star cast. Popular stalwarts like Vikram, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, and Trisha will be part of it.

Mani was in Thailand last month to scout the locations of the film. The latest update from the Kollywood sources revealed that he has started shooting for the film a couple of days in Thailand. It will be a 40-day schedule in this picturesque country. Mani is currently shooting in the forest areas of Thailand. Apparently, Karthi and Jayam Ravi have already joined the shoot. Vikram will join the sets after a few days.
It seems that Karthi is playing the role of Vallavaraiyan Vandiyadevan and Jayam Ravi is essaying Arulmozhi Varman's role in the film. Mani is not compromising on the budget and is planning to make the film a visual spectacle. Legendary technicians AR Rahman, Ravi Varman and Thota Tharani are handling the music, camera and the art departments of the film respectively. Ponniyin Selvan will hit the screens in 2021.
