Migrant workers are the ones who got severely hit by the coronavirus pandemic. Since the lockdown got announced, there was no work for them. They ran out of money and are starving at the metro cities. Staying away from homeland during these tough times is never easy. Now, the government is moving migrants back to their home towns. Still, there are many people who got stranded with no option to travel. A few NGOs have come together to help these migrant workers. They started a fundraiser campaign and are requesting people to donate in order to send migrants home. Actor Naga Chaitanya welcomed this initiative. He also urged people to come forward and donate for the cause.
Naga Chaitanya took on Twitter to share about this fundraiser. He tweeted, 'Painful to see the reality of migrant workers. Let’s try and better the situation for them as much as possible. Any effort will go a long way. Let’s #stopthewalk time to get them home!'
This fundraiser campaign got named as #StopTheWalk. Crowdfunding platform Ketto has started this campaign in collaboration with various NGOs. Till now, 679 people have supported the cause. They have raised around Rs. 46 lakhs out of the target amount of Rs. one crore. Producer Allu Aravind remained as a top donor by contributing Rs. 2,50,000 for the initiative.
On the career front, Naga Chaitanya is currently acting in the film Love Story. Directed by Shekhar Kammula, this film features Sai Pallavi as the female lead.
