1989 film Shiva gave an action image to King Nagarjuna. After that, Nag has done a few action flicks and one of the most notable films among them is Rakshana. Directed by Uppalapati Narayana Rao, this film featured Shobana as the female lead. Rakshana had hit the screens on 18 February 1993. Today marks the 27 years anniversary of its release and let's have a look at this film.
Rakshana is the story of a sincere and angry cop Bose (Nagarjuna) who fights against the underworld dons Chinna (Salim Ghouse) and Nalla Seenu (Kota Srinivasa Rao). There is also a personal track of Bose with his friend (Nassar) and wife (Shobana). How his personal life got affected by his profession forms the story. Nagarjuna's intense acting as a police officer got a lot of appreciation from the audiences. The music composed by MM Keeravani was also a hit during those times. Songs like Guppu Guppu, Kanne papa and Gallumandi became chartbusters in that year.
Popular director Teja had handled the cinematography for this film and Posani Krishna Murali had penned the dialogues for it. Nagarjuna's brother Akkineni Venkat produced Rakshna under their home banner Annapurna Studios. The film was a hit at the box office.
