The lockdown has shed light on another serious issue - domestic abuse and violence. The NGO SNEHA has started a campaign against domestic abuse and violence. The campaign involves celebrities voicing the cries of victims of domestic abuse and violence. Namratha Shirodkar took to her social media to voice out for ‘ Vijaya.’
Namratha shared a photo with the words “ I am Vijaya” written across a photo of herself. She then wrote, “ I am her voice today and the voices of the many victims of domestic abuse which are going unheard as they are locked up with their abusers in the lockdown. #LockDownMeinLockUp. The rising number of cases has put tremendous pressure on the resources of SNEHA, an NGO that has been fighting domestic violence for 20 years. They need to raise funds to raise resources to tackle domestic violence. Namratha Shirodkar and her family have also been working towards making sure low-income families do not go hungry during the lockdown. Namratha Shirodkar and Mahesh Babu recently shared a photo of an initiative that they are taking part in to help low-income families receive relief packets. Namratha added that their son Gautham has been working relentlessly toward the cause.
