The prestigious Oscar award, in the best documentary category goes to India’s 'Period - End of sentence.' This movie is about the menstruation problem in Indain women. It is directed by Iranian-American filmmaker Rayka Zehtabchi and produced by Guneet Monga.
The film starred real 'Pad Man' Arunachalam Murgunantham whose efforts were previously featured in Akshay Kumar, Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor starring "Pad Man". It is a 26 minutes feature available on Netflix. The film shows the experience of girls and women in Hapur in northern India in the installation of a pad machine in their village.
'Period. End of Sentence' competed with 'Black Sheep', 'End Game', 'Lifeboat' and 'A Night At The Garden' in the documentary subject category. The director Rayka Zehtabchi stated that she was not crying her for the pain during periods but for winning an Oscar for filming a movie on periods.
