Odiyan director VA Shrikumar Menon arrested

Director VA Shrikumar Menon made his debut with Odiyan starring Mohanlal and Manju Warrier. The film released in theatres in 2018 and received a lukewarm response from the audience. Post Odiyan, VA Shrikumar Menon announced a couple of projects which were dropped due to reasons best known to him. Now, VA Shrikumar Menon is back in the news after he was arrested by Alappuzha Police for an alleged case of financial fraud. Reportedly, he received Rs 7 crore from Rajendran Pillai of Sreevalsam Busines Group for a film, which never materialised till date.

Rajendran Pillai filed the complaint with Alappuzha Police in a cheating case. Followring the complaint, the police arrestted VA Shrikumar Menon on May 6 and produced him at the court on May 7. Shrikumar Menon applied for an anticipatiy bail, but it was rejected by the court. He is charged under sections 406 (punishment for criminal breach of trust) and 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of the Indian Penal Code. Earlier, Odiyan director VA Shrikumar Menon was arrested based on a complaint filed by Manju Warrier.
