Onam: Myth Defining Modernity; Mavelippattu Song Goes Viral On Social Media.

Is Onam a ritualistic commemoration of an ancient story? The answer is no. For those who are sceptical, watch the music video "Mavelipattu" released on YouTube the other day.

"As long as power and those subjugated to its oppressions exist, Onam is a myth capable of profoundly defining modernity," the music video swears. By subtly reinterpreting the Maveli story through the lens of underworld politics, this music video deconstructs the class, colour, and equations of the New Kerala. This music video also testifies that Maveli’s story has the language to read in a time when earth-smelling men are constantly trampled, and they rise up as a new language of resistance and politics.

At first glance, it is a fairy tale. Seeing the earth from the sky at the time of Maveli Nadu, the devas who were angry sent Lord Vishnu to the earth in the form of Vamana. It was a blatant fraud. Vamana tramples the Asura king Mahabali to the underworld, where he has created heaven on earth. However, the story does not end there. What has happened to all invasions in history is happening here. No one can remove that demon king from the soil of ordinary people's memories. Mahabali returns from underground to the minds of his own people year after year.

In short, it's a girl's perspective. They live in a dirt house. People who come towards that house and land with real estate greed Attempt to evict them by forging documents. A young man named Vakkil Mani comes to question the underworld politics. An ever-invasion strategy to dominate the land and the people by eliminating him. Mavelipattu serves as a link between people from different eras and times.

Leading actor Manikandan Achari plays Mani, a lawyer who resurrects as Maveli. Favor Francis, who has been working in the field of visual media for decades, is coming as the boss. Choot Mohanan plays the grandfather, Devanandan plays the boy, and Surendranaroi T Konikara plays the girl.

This music video is directed by Vishnu Vilasini Vijayan. It was produced by Ajay Gopal under the banner of Sabarmati Productions. The lyrics of the song are penned by Ajay Jishnu Sudheyan and Ansif Abu. Music by Hariprasad SR. Vocals: Ajay Jishnu Sudheyan, Hariprasad SR. Cinematography: Sachin Ravi. Editor: Pratyush Chandran.
