An online petition filed in Pakistan against Priyanka Chopra
The airstrikes carried on by the India Air Force(IAF) as a counter to the attacks made by Pakistan in Pulwama district has attracted the global attention and number of celebrities came forward conveying their support to their respective countries.
Several Bollywood celebrities lauded IAF and its brave pilots amongst which actress Priyanka Chopra has made it to the headlines after her recent tweet ‘Jai Hind #IndianArmedForces’. Seems like Pakistan is not happy with Priyanka’s tweet who is in a responsible position like UNICEF goodwill ambassador. An online petition filed by the opponent country has demanded the UNICEF to remove of the actress from the position.
"War between two nuclear powers can only lead to destruction & death. As goodwill ambassador of UNICEF, Priyanka Chopra was supposed to stay neutral and peaceful but her tweet in favour of Indian arm forces after they invaded Pakistan airspace shows otherwise. She doesn't deserve this title anymore," stated the petition.
Priyanka's parents Dr Ashok Chopra and Dr Madhu Chopra were doctors in the Indian Army. Being in a responsible position and for someone who is grown up in an army atmosphere, she started receiving an outrage from netizens. One of the comments read as: “Can the @UN please take back their ambassadorship from Priyanka Chopra? Celebs who fuel wars have no reason to be talking about human rights at any forum. Someone who ‘apparently’ works for children’s rights, needs to be schooled about the impact of war on children? #SayNoToWar.”
Priyanka was made the UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in December 2016 after which she attended many of the events representing them in deprived countries.
