Opinion: Bhola Shankar The Wrong Follow UpTo Waltair Veerayya For Megastar Chiranjeevi
Megastar Chiranjeevi managed to score the biggest hit of his career with Waltair Veerayya this year, and Bhola Shankar might be the wrong film to follow that up with.
While Megastar Chiranjeevi made his grand re-entry to films in 2017, fans haven't been able to really enjoy the actor's comeback until now. While Khaidi No. 150 and Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy were received well enough, they were not what fans were expecting from Chiru. Everyone thought that the tables would turn with Acharya, but that film ended up being a disaster. Then Godfather was released, and while the film was alright, it was ignored as it was a remake.
With Waltair Veerayya, fans got to see Chiru in an original film, and the way they wanted to see him on the big screen, in his vintage style. This success is now going to be followed by Bhola Shankar, directed by Meher Ramesh. Meher Ramesh's last film was Shadow, with Victory Venkatesh, and it was released in 2013, a decade ago. The film ended up being a massive disaster, on such a scale that Meher Ramesh failed to get another film since then. Ever since Bhola Shankar was announced, fans and audiences haven't been happy with Chiru's association with the director, owing to the latter's track record. Despite that, the movie continues to be on track.
Bhola Shankar is currently being shot in Hyderabad and is expected to be released in May. Considering that it is a remake of the Tamil film Vedalam, there are chances that audiences will ignore it just like Godfather. Thus, the film looks like a really bad choice of follow-up for Waltair Veerayya. Let's see how Bhola Shankar will turn out to be.
