Prabhas' first blockbuster movie Varsham celebrates 16th anniversary

Prabhas is now a pan-Indian star with a 100 crore market value. But the actor had to face failures at the beginning of his career. The actor's first two films, Eeshwar and Raghavendra turned out to be disappointing ventures and questioned Prabhas' fate. Then came the 2004 film Varsham which turned his career and made him a star overnight. This Shoban directorial romantic action movie is celebrating its 16th anniversary today.

Varsham had hit the screens on 16th January 2004 during the Sankranthi festive season. Right from show one, the film started getting unanimous positive reports from the viewers. The film featured Trisha as the heroine and Gopichand as the villain. The film made Prabhas as an action star as he performed some deadly stunts in the film.

The film also showcased historic city Warangal in an authentic way, which has impressed the audiences. Even the music composed by Devi Sri Prasad was a big hit. All the songs in the film still remain in the playlists of Telugu folks. Varsham also got remade in Tamil, Odiya, and Hindi. After this, both Prabhas and Trisha went on to act in films like Bujjigadu and Pournami. MS Raju had produced the film under the Sumanth Art Productions banner.
