Actress Priyanka Chopra noticed that the blue tick had returned to her Twitter account. She was promoting her new series Citadel at the time. Priyanka expressed her joy in a tweet, stating that she felt like herself again. The blue tick, which indicates that an account is verified, had been removed from all verified Twitter users' accounts on April 20, 2023. Twitter stated that users would only get the blue tick if they subscribed to Twitter Blue. Twitter Blue is a paid subscription service. However, for many accounts, including those of Priyanka Chopra, Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar, Vir Das, and Malala Yousafzai, the blue tick returned without paying the subscription fee.
The new Twitter owner, Elon Musk, restored the blue tick for accounts with over one million followers on the platform. This raised concerns that anyone could impersonate a celebrity by subscribing to Twitter Blue and obtaining a check mark. Meanwhile, Elon Musk personally paid for the blue ticks for US basketball player LeBron James, actor Willam Shatner, and author Stephen King.
Priyanka Chopra's new series, Citadel, also features Richard Madden in the lead. Stanley Tucci and Lesley Manville also play major roles in the film. The first two episodes will premiere on Prime Video on April 28, 2023, with the season finale airing on May 26, 2023. The Citadel team recently held a web series premiere in Rome, Italy.
