The 50th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) kickstarted last night in Goa. Popular Hindi filmmaker Karan Johar has hosted the inaugural ceremony. Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar, Secretary for Information and Broadcasting Amit Khare and Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant have attended as the chief guests for the event.
Indian film icons, Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth also attended the event. While Rajini got a special award 'Icon of Golden Jubilee of IFFI,' Amitabh got felicitated for receiving the Dadasaheb Phalke Award recently. French actress Isabelle Huppert won the Lifetime Achievement Award for her immense contribution towards the cinema.
Speaking at the event, Amitabh said that he will be forever indebted to his fans for being with him, through all the highs and lows of his career. He added that he doesn't want to repay the debt as he wants to keep that love forever.
Speaking about Rajinikanth, Amitabh stated that he treats Rajini like his family. They keep nagging each other, give advice to each other and sometimes they don't listen to the advice as well. The Pink actor concluded by saying that Rajini always inspires him for being such gentle and humble. IFFI will conclude on the 28th of this month.
