In April 2021, Superstar Rajinikanth was honored with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke award for his contribution to Indian cinema. The Dadasaheb Phalke award ceremony will be held in New Delhi on October 25. Today (October 24), he met the media outside his house and spoke about receiving the coveted award. He said, "I'm very happy that I won the Dadasaheb Phalke award. I never expected that I'd get the award. I'm sad that KB sir (K Balachander) is not alive when I get this award." Rajinikanth made his debut with K Balachander's Apoorva Ragangal in 1975 and has ruled the roost for over 40 years.
Rajinikanth's statement read, "Tomorrow [October 25] is an important occasion for me with two special landmarks. One, the Dadasaheb Phalke award, being conferred upon me by the Government of India because of the love and support of the people. Second, my daughter Soundarya Vishagan, by her independent efforts has pioneered the making of a very useful app for people called "HOOTE" and she is going to introduce it to the world from India. People can now express through their voice their thoughts, wishes, and ideas just like they do in writing in any language of their choice. I am very happy to launch this innovative, useful, and the first of its kind the "HOOTE APP" in my voice (sic)."
