Rajinikanth scores a double century yet again

Whenever a Rajinikanth film gets released, the whole South Indian gets into a festive mood and waits with bated breath to witness the Superstar on the big screen. This year, Rajini came up with a Pongal treat with high octane action entertainer Darbar, which got helmed by star director AR Murugadoss.

 
As it is the first project in the combination of both Rajini and Murugadoss, there were expectations for this film right from its launch. Finally, it hit the screens on 9th January and is having a dream run at the box office. In its two weeks run, Darbar has collected more than Rs. 200 crores at the box office. The trade pundits are analyzing that with digital rights, satellite rights, and the collections till the final run, Darbar might end up earning more than Rs. 250 crores. Thus, it became a blockbuster at the box-office.
 
It is Rajini's fifth film to enter the 200 crore club, after Robo, Kabali, 2.0 and Petta. The team and the fans are highly elated with this success. Darbar featured Nayanthara as the female lead. Nivetha Thomas played a key role as Rajini's daughter. Lyca Subhaskaran has produced the film and Anirudh Ravichander has composed the music for it.
