Superstar Rajinikanth's Annaatthe was one among the big-budget films that was stalled due to he novel coronavirus pandemic. The film's shooting resumed in Hyderabad in December 2020. However, eight crew members tested positive for the novel coronavirus due to which the film's shoot had to be halted. Even though Rajinikanth tested negative for the virus, he was hospitalised due to severe fluctuations in blood pressure. He was in hospital for a few days and was later discharged. The doctors advised him to take rest.
Due to this health scare, Rajinikanth decided ot to venture into politics as it would stress him. Now, it is reported that Rajinikanth and the team eill resume the film's shoot on March 15. A huge set resembling a village has been erected at EVP Film City in the outskirts of Chennai for the film's shooting. After wrapping up a few sequences in the set, the team will shoot some other important sequences in Coimbatore and Pollachi. Produced by Sun Pictures, the rural entertainer stars Keerthy Suresh, Nayanthara, Meena, Kushbhu, Prakashraj, Sathish, Soori, Goerge Maryan among others.
