The famous Indian Film Festival of Melbourne has presented Ranveer Singh with the Best Actor of the Year award. Singh was praised for his performance in the 1983 film (IIFM). He played Kapil Dev, the captain of the Indian cricket team, in the Kabir Khan-produced movie. It was based on India's legendary and historic World Cup victory.

Ranveer Singh undoubtedly expressed his joy and thanks for this victory and added that 83 would always be one of his most beloved flicks. “I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the jury members at IFFM for bestowing me with the Best Actor of the Year Award for my role as Kapil Dev. ‘83 is one of the most loved films of my career! It’ll always be one of the most cherished films in my filmography.”

"But more than the accolades, it's the process of producing this picture that I will cherish the most," he continued. I'm appreciative to Kabir Sir for providing me with this chance, for mentoring me, and for motivating me with his leadership. I share this honor with the cast and crew of '83 because they are so important to me and because we have such a special, close relationship, he added.

Ranveer also paid tribute to each member of Kapil Dev's World Cup-winning team in his dedication. In his closing remarks, he said, “I dedicate this honour to Kapil’s Devils, a fine bunch of gentlemen who dared to dream, who through their efforts and achievements showed us that we Indians can be the best in the world,”

'83 also included Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone for the first time after their marriage, in addition to an ensemble cast. She portrayed Romi Dev, Kapil's real-life wife. Ranveer Singh now has a number of interesting projects in development, including Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani from Karan Johar and Cirkus from Rohit Shetty.
