Richa Chadha And Ali Fazal Launch Undercurrent Lab, Announce Maiden Production Venture

Richa Chadha joined hands with director Shuchi Talati for the formation of an incubation program for women, who aim to work in Bollywood. The program, called 'Undercurrent Lab' officially launches today, and is a joint partnership between the Women in Film and Television Association, India (WIFT) and one of the largest lighting and grip equipment providers in Bollywood Light N Light'. The lab has been set up to groom more female gaffers in Bollywood. A gaffer refers to a person who is in charge of a particular field. Richa and Ali launched the Undercurrent lab and announced their maiden production, Girls will be girls.

Speaking about the lab and the work they do, Richa Chadha, co-founder of 'Undercurrent lab' said, "When we set out to have an all-women team, we found that there are virtually no women who work in the lighting departments in Hindi films, So our associate, Tanya Negi came up with the idea for this workshop. We are starting this training program for women which aims to increase the participation of women behind the camera. I hope that the initiative seeds a much larger change in the way things work in this industry."
