Samantha Ruth Prabhu Starrer 'Shaakuntalam' Release Date Postponed

The multilingual mythological drama "Shaakuntalam," in which Samantha Ruth Prabhu stars, announced on Thursday that its release has been postponed. The news was revealed a week after the film's release date on November 4 was announced by the production company Sri Venkateswara Creations.

The Hyderabad-based label said in a statement sent to its official Twitter account that they postponed the release of the movie so that viewers may watch "Shaakuntalam" in 3D.

"We aim to give a bigger experience with Shaakuntalam and immerse you in the World of Shaakuntalam, for which we as a team felt 3D would be a brilliant way. To facilitate this, we would be taking some time to put forth and so, will be unable to meet the earlier announced date of release. We thank the support and love showered upon us. From around the world, hoping for your support in this too! We will be announcing the new release date soon," the note read.

The movie is written and directed by award-winning director Gunasekhar of "Rudhramadevi" fame and is based on the well-known Sanskrit play "Abhijnana Shakuntalam" by Kalidasa. Shaakuntalam billed as a whimsical romance, centers on the legendary love story of Shakuntala and King Dushyant, who Samantha from "The Family Man respectively represents" and Dev Mohan (from "Sufiyum Sujatayum").
