Actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu is all set for the release of her upcoming film, Shaakuntalam, directed by Gunasekhar. The film was initially scheduled to be released on February 17th, but the release has now been postponed due to issues with the Hindi version's release. The new release date of the film is yet to be announced.
Shaakuntalam is based on the timeless love story written by Telugu poet Kalidasa. The film features Samantha in the titular role, while Malayalam actor Dev Mohan plays king Dushyant, her husband. Allu Arjun's daughter Allu Arha will be seen as Prince Bharata in the film, the son of Shakuntala and Dushyant. The film's shoot was completed quite some time ago, but since the graphics work wasn't completed, the movie wasn't ready for release. The trailer of Shaakuntalam was released a few days ago, and got a decent response from the audience. The film is being promoted quite well as well, by the team of the movie.
On the other hand, Samantha is one of the very few actresses in the industry who has managed to create a loyal fanbase for herself. She has also established herself as someone who is capable of pulling the crowds to the theatres without the necessity of any major male actor. Before Samantha, it was only Anushka Shetty who managed to create such an impact. Hence, she even earned the tag of Lady Superstar in Tollywood.
With Samantha's craze, it is expected that Shaakuntalam will get a good opening, and the the movie will turn out to be a good hit as well.
