2022 saw the domination of South Indian films in the box office. RRR and KGF are the biggest hits of the year. Meanwhile, Vikram is on the way to break the records so far. Bollywood films lacked the minimum qualities to be categorized as good films let alone making industry hits.
Bollywood is in crisis with the rise of South Indian films. Bollywood, once the face of Indian cinema and the number one industry, is now on the verge of losing it. Almost all the films that were released this year with hope were like a nut on a coon, poking their noses at the box office.
Let’s take a look at the flops from Bollywood so far this year:
1. Bachchan Pandey
Bachchan Pandey is a movie directed by Farhad. Released in March, the film stars Akshay Kumar, Kriti Sanon and Jacqueline Fernandez in the lead roles. The film was released on Holi. Rajamouli's films RRR and Vivek Agnihotri's The Kashmir Files were one of the reasons for Bachchan Pandey's failure. The film was made at a cost of Rs 165 crore and grossed only Rs 45 crore.
2. Attack
John Abraham was the hero in the Attack directed by Raj Anand. Rakul Preet Singh and Jacqueline Fernandes are the heroines. Critics and news portals described the Attack as a box office disaster. The film, which had a budget of Rs 100 crore, received only Rs 16 crore.
3. Jersey
Shahid Kapoor played the lead role in the film Jersey directed by Gautam Thinnanuri. Shahid Kapoor's film was a remake of the Telugu super hit movie Jersey starring star Nani. The Telugu blockbuster film was shattered when it hit Hindi. The film which cost Rs 80 crore did not get even Rs 20 crore. The film was also affected by the wave of KGF Chapter Two, which was released days before the release of Jersey.
4. Heropanthi 2
Heropanthi 2 is a movie directed by Ahmad Khan which released in April. The film stars Tiger Shroff, Krithi Sanon and Tara Sutaria in the lead roles. The action packed movie gave the audience a disappointing experience in the theater. Heropanthi 2 received only Rs 26 crore.
5. Dhaakad
Dhaakad is a movie directed by Rasneesh Gai which released in May. Kangana Ranaut starrer is an action thriller. On the eighth day of its release, the film grossed less than Rs 5,000 in the country, 4420 to be exact and only 20 tickets were sold. Dhaakad has become Kangana Ranaut's biggest failure in recent times.
6. Samrat Prithviraj
Samrat Prithviraj hit theaters on June 3 and is also rocking the theaters. On the fourth day, the film collected only between Rs 4.85 crore and Rs 5.15 crore. The film, which was made at an investment of around Rs 300 crore, has so far grossed just Rs 45 crore. There are reports that the film will lose Rs 100 crore even if the digital and satellite rights are taken into account.
